ViziFleet (Verra Mobility)

Designing a modern fleet management platform that transforms complex requirements into an intuitive enterprise experience.

Vizi-hero.png

ViziFleet is an enterprise customer portal that helps businesses manage fleets, vehicles, tolling services, and user accounts from a single platform.

I joined the project during Phase 2, after the discovery and product definition work had already been completed. Rather than defining the product vision, my role was to bring it to life—translating product requirements into thoughtful user experiences and polished interfaces that were ready for development.

My Role

Turning product requirements into intuitive user experiences.

Working closely with product managers and fellow designers. I focused on designing features that aligned with business needs while making the overall experience feel simple and cohesive.

My contributions included:

  • Designing user flows and feature interactions

  • Creating wireframes and high-fidelity UI

  • Establishing the visual direction and look & feel

  • Building reusable UI patterns and components

  • Creating interactive prototypes for reviews

The Challenge

Designing within constraints without compromising the experience.

Since I joined after the discovery phase, many of the product requirements and features had already been defined. My challenge was figuring out how to create an experience that felt modern and intuitive while working within real-world project constraints.

One of the biggest challenges was that development was handled by the client’s engineering team rather than our own. That meant every design needed to be well documented, practical to implement, and easy for another team to interpret.

At the same time, the project had a fixed development budget, so building a fully custom design system wasn’t an option. Instead, we used the Chakra UI component library as the foundation and carefully adapted it to match Verra Mobility’s brand while maintaining consistency and usability. The project specifically called for leveraging Chakra UI with branding and accessibility refinements instead of extensive custom component development.

The Approach

Finding the right balance between usability, branding, and feasibility.

Rather than designing every component from scratch, I focused on using the existing UI library thoughtfully.

I looked for opportunities to:

  • Simplify complex workflows through better layout and hierarchy.

  • Create a stronger visual identity using typography, color, spacing, and imagery.

  • Build consistent patterns that users could quickly recognize.

  • Keep designs aligned with Chakra UI to support efficient development.

Instead of seeing the framework as a limitation, I treated it as a foundation that allowed us to spend more time improving the overall user experience.

The Outcome

The final designs gave ViziFleet a cleaner, more modern interface while maintaining consistency across a growing set of enterprise features.

My work included experiences for:

  • Fleet management

  • Vehicle management and enrollment

  • User management

  • Company settings

  • Authentication

  • Help & support

  • Shared UI components and patterns

Reflection

One thing I enjoy most about enterprise design is simplifying complexity.

This project reminded me that good design isn’t always about having complete creative freedom.

Sometimes the most rewarding work comes from designing within constraints—finding ways to create a polished, intuitive experience while balancing business goals, development timelines, and technical limitations.
